Do I need a partner?
While partners are always welcome, you do not need a dance partner to learn at NDLC. Our group classes have individuals rotating every few minutes allows you to meet new people and learn to dance with a variety of leads and followers.
What should I wear to dance?
You will get a workout from our classes so we suggest you dress in comfortable clothes and wear shoes with smooth soles that allow you to turn and spin.
What if I can’t keep up?
Everyone learns at a different pace but our classes have plenty of instructors and volunteers to assist you during the classes. In addition, taking a private lesson is invaluable in helping you understand the nuances and concepts.
Do I have to register for the group classes?
There is no registration for any of our group classes. Payment is made in person at the class and can be made using a multi-class group card, cash or Venmo.
How often should I attend lessons?
Most students come in at least once a week, others attend more frequently, the choice is yours. We recommend regular attendance to reinforce the moves learnt.
Can I only dance with my partner at the group classes?
We rotate partners in our classes as we have found that dancing with different people teaches better leading and following skills which ultimately makes dancing with our own partner (if you have one) a better and more pleasurable experience. If you are interested in learning to dance as a couple
